World Cup Predictions

I heard an interesting story on the radio this morning. Apparently in about 1970 the Socceroos went to Mozambique to see a witch doctor for some good karma. The witch doctor then said it would cost $1000 and the Socceroos didn't pay so the Witch doctor put a curse on them. Thirty years later John Safran went to Mozambique and somehow got the curse removed, and surprise surprise, here we are today.


What I think the world rankings should look like:

1. Brazil
2. Germany
3. Italy
4. Netherlands
5. England
6. Argentina
7. Czech Republic
8. France
9. Spain
10. Australia <--- Come on aussie


Who will win?
My Predictions

Now I don't know much about soccer but thought I would make some predictions.

Winner: Germany
Reason: Host country and runners up last world cup.

Other possible winners:

Brazil
Reason: Duh

Italy
Good team, and South American's find it hard to win in Europe.

England
Reason: Good team and playing well.

Argentina
Reason: They are next to Brazil and they love their soccer.

Netherlands
Reason: Europeans stand a good chance and Netherlands are damn good.

Spain
Reason: Looking strong this year.

Switzerland:
Reason: They knocked Turkey out of the Cup and they are leading their group which includes France.


Outside Chance:

France:
Reason: They have Zinedine Zindane and they aren't a bad team.

Ghana
Reason: Playing very well and beat Czech Republic

Portugal
Reason: About time for someone new to win it.

Sweden
Reason: Those Europeans and their soccer.

Australia
Reason: Aussie Aussie Aussie!
